L'Occitane Shea Butter Range

Inspired by the women from West Arica and their skincare secrets, the L'Occitane Shea Butter range offers an exceptional quality of protection and nourishment. The essential secret ingredient; shea butter has been used for centuries to protect the skin from the harsh environments we come into contact with. Packed with antioxidants, vitamins A and E as well as fatty acids vital for cell membrane maintenance, shea butter creates a shield against environmental damage. L'Occitane prides themselves on using the very best of natures ingredients, sourcing each in a sustainable way.

I have been using these 3 items from the Shea Butter range for a few weeks now and from day 1 my skin has been left with the most amazing soft and supple feeling. During the colder months I suffer from dry patches, the wind and low temperatures provide a damaging concoction causing tightness and a dullness to my complexion. These very reason made the L'Occitane line and shea butters protective qualities extremely appealing.

For the more frostier mornings I have been using L'Occitane Ultra Rich Face Cream. This stunningly designed jar pays homage to the the traditional storage huts used in Burkina Faso where the project first originated. The creamy formula contains 25% shea butter promising a splash of moisture, it glides on luxuriously on your skin and sinks in quickly leaving only a pleasant feeling of ultimate nourishment. The creams has no distinctive scent and a little goes a long way because of its highly concentrated moisturising formula. Although recently the days haven't been so bright the moisturiser contains an SPF of 20 offering even more protection.

The light weight formulation of the Ultra Gentle Moisturiser is great for sensitive skin, I myself don't suffer from sensitivity but I do tend to gravitate to more gentle products. I don't like to use any products that are too harsh as I believe skincare should be kind and pleasurable. This moisturiser is enriched with 8% shea butter providing a soothing action in combination with liquorice and candeia oil extracts, ideal for all year round use. Again as to not cause any unnecessary discomfort, the light fluid contains no fragrance. What I like more about this moisturiser compared its thicker counterpart is that it is contained within a pump. I find pump dispensers more clean and hygienic, perfect for quick and efficient use. Also like the entire set it leaves my skin with the best nourishment and protection compared to any product I have ever used before.

Lastly I have been carrying L'Occitane Shea On The Go in my handbag for applications 'on the go'. The tin contains 100% pure shea butter and I tend to use this on the dry patches between my knuckles.

I find even if I wear gloves my hands always seem to suffer, so this handy tin has been a god send. Beacuse its so pure and moisturing I can use it on dry cracked skin without causing irritating, which is hard to find in a hand cream. I have yet to use this on my lip or other areas of the face which you can do and is perfectly suitable.

Overall I would strongly recommend taking a trip to L'Occitane and having a look at the Shea Butter line for yourself, you wont be disappointed!

Channelling Chanel

There have been many an opportunity when being classed as a 'Student' has come in handy and worked out to my advantage, especially when on a student budget. The 'Student Discounts' are the one perk I will definately miss once I have graduated, so I plan to make the most of it :) well thats my excuse anyway!

I have been eyeing up handbags way way way over my budget, just lusting, not actually planning on buying :) Its become quite an obsession lately, bags and shoes have become my weaknesses. However, with my new found knowledge from devouring countless designer collection I have become quite good at finding more affordable 'look-a-likes'.

Needing...well ok not needing but in mood a new bag for Uni I decided to pop into a few shops on my walk home last week. I was strolling past Oasis, a shop I don't tend to go in normally but was hooked in by 'Students get 20% off' Oooh yes please. Does anyone else usually find Oasis a little overpriced? Straight over to the bags I see this to die for black bag, perfect for all my needs:

Lots of pockets for things to get lost in ( I love Marry Poppins bags :) ) ✓ Check
Big enough to fit an A4 lined pad ✓ Check
Comfy strap ✓ Check
Goes with most outfits ✓ Check
Affordable ✓ check

And with my 20% discount the Liverpool Street bag orgionally £35 cost me £28 :) I couldn't have been happier. Whats even better is how slightly similar it is to the Channel executive tote bag I had been pining over! It may not be the real thing but i'm channelling my inner chanel :)

Have you been lusting over any 'out of your budget' items recently? Have you found any amazing affordable options? I love to hear from all you savvy shoppers!

January Favourites

In the months running up to christmas I found myself getting in a makeup and skin care rut. I was super stressed out with Uni and my brain couldn't handle much else, so things just became routine. Since things have eased up a tiny bit with the start of a new term and a better organisational work routine :) I've been slowly recovering from my comfort makeup routine and gradually stepping outside my comfort zone.

I'm also including some non beauty favourites in this months post as I typically like hearing about these bits and bobs too, and hopefully you guys will as well :)

In January I couldn't get enough of ....

Liz Earle Super Skin Concentrate - The best thing for my skin in these cold winter months, an official skinsaver!

Burberry Body Perfume - This is my little tester version as I can't quite afford to buy a brand new perfume at the moment

Twinings Herbal Tea - I can't take caffeine and herbal tea has now become my newest addiction :)

Clinique Air Brush Concealer - This has been fabulous at covering up my stress breakouts, its now an every day staple.

Liz Earle Spot On - Again another product to help in the fight against my stress breakouts, its amazing but the strong tea tree smell takes getting use to

Yankee Candle Tart Home Sweet Home - I recently brought myself a tart warmer/aromatherapy oil burner and to go with it I decided to treat myself to some Yankee Candle tarts. The tarts melt and give off a scent, as an alternative to burning scented candles ( I've recently read quite a few horror articles about the toxins in wicked scented candles )

Garnier Roll On Anti Dark Circles - The perfect step to concealing the tell tale signs of too many late nights. One roll under each eye and a quick blend until you're good to go!

Cover Girl Lash Blast Volume - I asked my Dad to pick this up for me on a recent trip he had to America and I am unbelievably impressed. When it comes to mascara I am highly critical as its one of my most favourite parts of my makeup routine. This new addition has blown me away and has fast become my FAVOURITE mascara. It defines, lengthens and doesn't leave any clumpiness what so ever!

Thanks for reading :) Did you have any must have favourite products in the month of January? I'd love to hear about your most loved products :)

I ♥ Glossy Box - Valentines Day Edition

With last months box being a huge hit for me and I was pleased to find out that this month was just as good :) I think I have fallen in love with Glossy Box and just in time for Valentines day too! I am have been so impressed over these last couple of months, catering to everyone must be a huge task but somehow they never seem to disappoint. They do their research and offer great quality samples working with Brands that have fantastic products.

I haven't been looking forward to February to be completely honest, the thought of valentines day whilst single isn't one of my favourite days of the year :) but since opening this months box I feel I've received my perfect valentines gift so Thank you glossy box!

Without further ado lets get down to business... the contents

Following last months ruby red box, this months box is a fabulous barbie pink...LOVE IT. I was beyond excited when I saw the gorgeous colour and can't wait to find a way to re use it some how (any suggestions??)

As always beautifully presented but instead of the usual glossy box logo sticker a cute pink heart, such a lovely touch.

This months box contained

♥ An Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner
♥ Clarins Extra Firming Night Cream
♥ Clarins Extra Firming Day Cream
♥ Murad Hybrids Skin Perfecting Primer - Dewy Finish
♥ and FAB Gentle Body Wash

Clarins Extra Firming Day Cream -  15ml sample size

I've never tried any Clarins skin care before so Im very excited to try these two products out. The night cream can be used on all skin types to protect against free radicals and to encourage better skin renewal. Skin apparently becomes smoother, enriched and is noticeably more beautiful. Although formulated for women around the age of 40, this doesn't put me off, I think now i'm in my 20's its good to start thinking about preparing for the future.  It claims to helps skin to maintain its defence mechanisms and enhances vitality to keep skin looking fresh, younger-looking and velvety-matte.

Full Size 50ml cost £48.00

Clarins Extra Firming Day Cream - 15ml
The 1st part of the Clarins skin care duo

Great for demanding skin which helps to promote the youthful appearance of skin. It contains Clarins Anti-Pollution Complex which protects against the damaging effects of UV rays and pollution, and natural anti-free radical ingredients which stimulate, tone and nourish the skin.

Full size 50ml cost £46.50

FAB Gentle Body Wash - 56.7g

Allergy tested, fragrance free, as well as free from all those other skin nasties this body wash would be ideal for those with sensitive skin or the skin conscious ones among us. I've been trying really hard to use more products that contain less or no parabens, sulphates or other harsh chemicals so this body really appeals to me. I can't wait to try it out and maybe purchase a full size if I like it.

Full size 226.8g cost £10 not a bad price for a health conscious beauty item!

Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner - Emerald Green Full size worth £9.50

This eye pencil is gorgeous, I love the sleek almost design, I feel quite Audrey Hepburn esque holding it :) . Now the colour is a shade of eyeliner I've never been drawn to normally and a shade I don't own in my collection. This is what I love about glossy box, you're introduced to shades, products etc that help you step outside your comfort zone to try new things. I can honestly say I love the colour and find it look great with brown eyes :) The formula is soft and creamy perfect for a gentle application. And full size! Whats not to like!

Murad Skin Perfecting Primer - 5ml

I only have one primer that I have in my collection, so getting to try out another especially from a brand like Murad is very exciting. This primer gives a matte finish and is a product suitable for oily skin leaving a radiant glow. I've heard great things about this primer - apparently its great for minimising pores!  *fingers crossed* one tip a friend who has used this gave me is to apply it with a brush :) hope thats helpful

Full size 30ml costs £29.00

And last but not least a yummy Glossy Box rock candy :) yum yum great for my sweet tooth :)
