Honey I got the Mustard - Transitional Winter Nails

One popular trend that is carrying into the winter season is definitely the statement colour, mustard.  Celebrities as well as fashion designers have been using this colour, seen constantly on the catwalks of London, Milan and
New York Fashion weeks.

This colour can be easily worked into your winter wardrobe. Not just to be used as a main statement piece, but  also through various accessories, adding a pop of colour to any basic outfit.  Mustard yellow shoes, scarves, purses, and jewellery pieces are everywhere.

I personally love the colour but with my skin tone I find it a little hard to pull off. But to keep mustard in my life I've taken to painting it on my nails..the shade mustard that is! There's nothing HOT in smelling like a hotdog!  To add a summer essence to my winter wardrobe and by using some of my summer polishes I've managed to save some much needed pennies.

2 polishes that havent seen the light of day since the summer:
- Barry M's Yellow
- And Essense Gold Rush
With a Fall magazine freebie
- Nails inc Basil Street

What do you think of the colour mustard as a Fall/Winter trend? How have you been rocking it?

Weekend Winter Hair Rescue

Boy oh boy its seems like a distant memory when I think back to the last time I posted a new blog post. With my internet setup less than half an hour old, the only and first thing I wanted to do was blog, finally i'm getting my much craved fix! Ok ok enough about my internet pa-lava and onto all things beauty.

First. My hair. It hasn't been looking its best recently, not really any direct fault of my own but to that of new medication...the dreaded side effects. So this weekend I gave my locks some much needed pampering, in hope of turning a corner and in starting a new rescue hair care routine.

In this months (November) Glossy Box I received much to my delight a dream hair care product, it must be fate! And I love love LOVE it! I had never had the pleasure of trying anything from Philp Kingsley haircare line before using the 'Elasticizer', so I wasn't too sure what to expect. Elasticizer is an intensive, super moisturising pre- shampoo treatment designed for use on all hair types. Claiming to add elasticity, manageability, bounce and shine, all the things my hair was lacking. I simply applied a large pea sized amount of the thick creamy product throughout wet hair and left it to work its magical powers under a shower cap for about 15 minutes. Then finishing off with using my normal shampoo as usual. Afterwards my hair felt super moisturised, healthy and full of life without feeling weighted down. Overall a really impressive product and my hair is truly grateful.

Another glossy box goody from a previous box 'Harmony' by Neal and Wolf was whipped out to becomee apart of my weekend pampering. From the first time trying this intensive conditioner I was impressed and so I was in no doubt to include this in my haircare recovery session. After shampooing out the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer I massaged the Harmony conditioner into my hair and again left under a shower cap for about 5 minutes. This product smells incredible and always leaves a soft, healthy sheen to my hair. A definite must have indulgent hair treatment.

I rarely blow dry my hair but when I do for a touch of glamour volume I make sure to use heat protectant. My favourite go to heat protectant has to be VO5 because of its easy to use, sprayable application which applies a fine mist of product evenly throughout my hair. It also smells great as well as calming down fly aways and unwanted frizz.

The final step to my weekend hair rescue operation was VO5's Miracle Concentrate. This product has seen so much love that I've repurchased it many times. Its a quick, easy and inexpensive pick me up for your hair, applying a drop or two to the ends of your hair can work wonders. I sometimes apply it to wet hair or dry hair, I find when I use it on wet hair my hair dries a lot faster which is an added bonus. The argon oil hydrates and helps fight against damaging free radicals. My only caution is a little goes a long way!

Hopefully with a few repeats of this decadent routine my hair will be on the road to recovery. Any hair care treats or must haves you'd recommend? Have you tried any of these products too? If so Id love to hear from you.

NOTD and I Finally Moved in!

Yep you heard it right! I finally moved in phew only issue left to tackle now is the internet...3 weeks till someone can set it up?! Well I can tell you this wasnt the best of news, so again blog posting is going to be an issue :( just when I thought things were looking up. Nonetheless I will try to get as many blog posts up and as frequently as I can :) and once i'm all sorted moving in and making the place more 'me' i'll be doing a room/flat post :)

So today I decided to do something a bit different with my nails, I fancied a change. My previous post was about December issues of magazine freebies and I mentioned that Glamour were giving away a free Nails Inc nail varnish. I picked up Basil Street a gorgeous pink toned light brown and I couldnt be more pleased with my choice, did anyone else buy Glamour if so which nail polish shade did you manage to pick up?

I decided on a twist of the french manicure; the Nails Inc Basil Street nude brown as a base and black tips. Hope you like it :)

Wow Moments of Beauty – 'Colour Bugs by Kevin Murphy'

Have YOU go the COLOUR BUG?

The dip- dye trend is huge right now, bright haired celebs have been ‘pop’ping up with amazingly colorful hair shades. From one of the first trend setters; Katy Perry with her bright blue barnet seen in her California Girls music video, to Jessie J and you cant mention dramatic hair without thinking of Lady Gaga. But if like us normal folk, pulling off bright hair 24/7 or having to explain to your boss your new permanent hair statement may be slightly challenging? Then these new little beauties will become your new best friend!

Australian session stylist Kevin Murphy has created an extremely innovative hair ‘makeup’ product; the Colour Bugs, offering intensely coloured hair shadows that you can wash out the next day without any colour left behind. These temporary hair shadows cost £12.95. To apply simply run some mouse or wax depending on the intensity you want (the more texturized the product the more strong the colour) to the area you wish to ‘colour’. Then with ease run the colour bug over the section of chosen hair. The colour bug resembles that of a bar of soap and voila a packed punch of pure intense colour. To lock in the colour for a more long lasting wear, all you have to do is spritz with hairspray. Oh and don't worry, once its dry the colour wont transfer to your clothes..phew!

To take off just wash awat with your normal everyday shampoo, I can’t wait to buy me one of these…im thinking purple or pink or maybe even both. Whats more the colour bug works on the darkest of hair shades too!

To find out more and for a demo of the colour bug click the above picture to watch Kevin Murphy himself apply the colour bug to 3 different hair shades and hairstyles.

Avaliable in Pink, Purple and Orange

What are your thoughts on these? Would you use them? I'd love to know what you think :)
