NOTD - Colour Me Happy

A slight summery twist on the dated 'French Manicure' bringing it up to date with a pop of colour....

Firstly I applied a light beige base coat

Then simply adding coloured nail varnish in place of the typical white tips. I used Berry by Barry M, 134 by Barry M, Blue Moon by Barry M and Candy Floss by Collection 2000

A clear top coat, I used Sally Hansen Hard As Nails, and you're done :)

I love this quirky twist :) A super easy colourful nail look that isn't too bold

Wish List - September

I am constantly making lists; to do lists, shopping lists, if I can make a list for it I will! With summer nearly over...did it even arrive? And with September fast approaching,I've decided to try and cheer myself up by doing a little 'Wish List'. Here are a few things that have caught my eye recently and maybe with a bit of dedicated saving I might be able to purchase one or two *fingers crossed*!

Shu Uemura's
High Performance Balancing Cleansing Oil (Enriched)

Here's a product that unless I won the lottery I doubt I would ever be able to justify purchasing. I have heard so many great things about this radiance-enhancing cleanser. It has antioxidant properties and is amazing at removing all traces of makeup and dirt. The main reason this appeals to me is that its enriched with nourishing oils that are great for hydrating your skin. My skin at the moment isn't dry but it seems a little dehydrated. Dry skin occurs when the skin is lacking oil whereas dehydrated skin is due to lack of moisture. Drinking gallons of water isn't going to help but some extra sips wont go amiss, all you need to do is look for products that help to lock in moisture as well as replacing it back deep under the skins surface.

Dior Skin Poudre Shimmer - Ultra Shimmering All Over Face Powder

'Amber Diamond'

I have been lusting after this product for forever! Dior's Amber Diamond is a luxury highlighter that brightens the skins complexion with thousands of tiny sparkles, giving just the right amount of pearlescent shine for a beautiful sheen.

Diesel Lovedose Eau De Parfum

I recently tried this perfume whilst on holiday, seduced by the heart shape bottle but actually I found myself really enjoying the scent too. Loverdose is the new female fragrance from Diesel it’s marketed as 'An addictive and unique fragrance with top notes of mandarin and star anise, followed by a blend of rich vanilla and sensual dry woods in the base'. Maybe when I’m finished with my other perfumes I’ll think about buying this one.

Ren's Clear Calm 3 Total Clarity Day Fluid

This is a product that I have been tempted to buy on more than one occasion, a local shop near me sells Ren products and i've found myself unconsciously wandering in that direction a few times lately. The Clearcalm 3 is a light oil-free day fluid formulated to combat the appearance of blemishes, visibly control oil and leave skin looking clearer, healthier, even-toned and mattefied....what can't it do! :)

Sleek's Nude Collection

I can't wait for the launch of Sleek's Nude Collection! I think I’m going to be buying all of these  when they come out :)

Eco Tools Brush Set

The Set includes:

Large Eye Brush - Apply and blend shadows
Angled Crease Brush - Softly apply color to crease for definition.
Petite Eye Shading Brush - Use with deeper or accent colors for a bold look.
Highlighting Brush - Perfect for highlighting the brow bone and inner corners of the eye.
Smudge Brush - Smudge shadow and liner along lash line for a smoky look.
Cosmetic Case with Mirror - Conveniently store brushes.

Another product that I am definitely hoping to buy soon is the Eco Tools brush set. It’s a great size for travelling and its really affordable too! What's more impressive is that all the brushes are earth-friendly:

Highly sustainable bamboo handles.
100% cruelty-free, soft taklon bristles.
Recycled aluminium ferrules.
Natural cotton and hemp cosmetic case
Reusable storage pouch

Do you have any products that you've been wanting to purchase recently? Anything that you wish you could own? I'd love to know what's on your lists :)

Sranrom 'The Philosophy of Well Being'

I adore using natural, luxurious body products that smell and feel amazing. Recently I’ve been using a few body treats from ‘Sranrom’ (pronounced sa-raan-rom) and have fallen in love with them! They have instantly become my new favourites.

`Sranrom`, is a poetic Thai word, which describes the wonderful, and most desirable feelings of pleasure, serenity and contentment. And boy does it sum up my experience when using these new favourites. The first product is Sranrom’s Happy Moments Jasmine Indulgence shower gel. From the moment I opened the bottle to use I was taken in, the most amazing of all scents overwhelmed me. The fresh, calming aroma of white jasmine flowers, pandan, green tea and aloe vera provide a relaxing and yet reviving feel.  Its lightly moisturising and contains anti oxidant properties that help to replenish tired and dry skin. What I think is absolutely amazing is that the shower gel and the whole entire line is formulated without any parabens, petrolatum, mineral oils, paraffin’s, animal ingredients and is 100% cruelty free! Another reason to feel good when using it :)

The other product is Sranrom’s Urban Wellness Calm Down hand cream. The formula is lightweight, super moisturising and absorbs quickly into the skin, without leaving any unpleasant greasy feeling behind. Again as before the Sranrom line doesn't contain any nasties like synthetic polymers, artificial coloring agents or synthetic fragrances. The luxurious hand cream also smells amazing! It contains the most incredible scent of lemongrass and kaffir lime which are said to refresh and clear the head and soothe the soul. Thais have used this refreshing mix of citrusy herbal oils for their aromatic abilities to clear headaches, soothe nerves and ease stress for years. The calming, relaxing scent last for ages on the skin, great for using in times of anxiousness.

As a thank you to their customers Sranrom are offering a complimentary gift with every order placed online at

During checkout, you will be able to choose a free gift from our Urban Wellness Calm Down collection, or when you spend over £40 you will also have the option of choosing a complimentary Wellness Mini Hand Cream Trio, worth £10.

Kristen Stewart W Magazine Cover Inspired Makeup

I think Kristen Stewart looks amazing in her spread for W magazine! She barely has to do anything to look gorgeous, always looking effortless, often rocking the hard and edgy look. In these shots she oozes old Hollywood glamour and her skin looks as if it were porcelain..very vampire esque dont you think?

Being a fan of the Twilight books, recently finishing my favourite of the series so far 'Breaking Dawn', I am both intrigued and eager to see how it is reflected in the new film. One look at these photographs and I instantly wanted to try and 're-create' Kristen's stunning makeup. Recreations/inspired looks are a favourite of mine to read and do. I love the challenge it gives and thoroughly enjoy it, it almost feels like 'dressing up' :)

Firstly I used my Super Plus BB Cream to help lighten and to give my skin that almost air brushed finish.

Next I went onto the challenging part, the super winged eyeliner. I used MAC's Blacktrack Fluidline with a Costal Scents bent eyeliner brush ( the angle on the brush makes life so much easier :) ) Starting off roughly mapping out the shape that I wanted, then filling it in afterwards. Now my eyeliner isn't exactly the same as Kristen's but I had to adapt the look to suit my eye shape. I took the eye liner right into the inner corner of my eye, creating a small sharp point that extends outwards.

Underneath the eye I ran Avon's Super Shock eye liner in black, very close to the lash line, in my water line and tight line. With a cotton bud I tidied up any unwanted marks i'd made and also used it to smudge the eye liner on the lower lash line, to give it that grungy feeling.

To brighten up the inner corners of my eyes I used MAC Cream Colour Base in Pearl. For the lashes I used a few coats of Lancome Hypn├┤se Doll Eyes mascara, it gives great length and volume!

To help my skin to look super soft and flawless I used Hard Candy Crystal Pressed Powder

I love the pale, creamy lipstick that Kristen wears in these photo's, I'd love to know the exact one she used! For my recreation I settled with using Elf Natural Nymph lipstick and a light touch of Barry M Strawberry Milkshake lip gloss

I hope you enjoyed my recreation of Kristen Stewarts W magazine makeup :) Have you read any of the Twilight book or seen any of the films? Are you looking forward to the next film? I'd love to know what you think :)

17 Purchases and a Free All About Nude Palette

I’m usually quite ‘safe’ in the lipstick shades that I choose to wear and a bright red is about the boldest shade in my collection. However, more recently I’ve been admiring more striking and cheeky colour ranges.

As a result of my new cravings I decided to purchase 17’s Honey Blossom Lasting Fix Lipstick, it's a gorgeous slightly orange and gold shimmery lipstick. Its not too bold but its also not like the usual natural shades I would have chosen in the past, a good first step I think :) . The lipstick is very pigmented and long lasting without making my lips feel dry.

( the colour is a little more daring in real life :) )
Whilst at the 17 makeup stand I was drawn in by their current promotion (I’m a sucker for these!) with any two 17 purchases you receive a free ‘All About Nude’ palette. The other 17 item that took my fancy was nude shade lip liner in the colour ‘Fawn’. I am slightly disappointment with this liner though, I didn't get the chance to swatch it in the store as the tester was missing and I didn't realise how shimmery it was.

So all together these two purchases qualified for the free ‘All About Nude’ summer palette.

The summer palette contains two eye shadows, a lipstick and a cream blusher. The first eye shadow is a fabulous golden shimmery pink and the second is a deep bronzy gold. The blush is similar in shade slightly to the golden pink eye shadow and the lipstick is a deep brownish red.

I can’t wait to give these a try :) What lipstick shades do you usually go for? Do you have any bolder suggestions for me :) ? I'd love to try out some other shades

Eye Candy

The vital beauty staple that is false lashes can help to inject a bit of va va voom into any look! It's a definite must have for most celebrities, providing an instant boost of femininity.

Superdrug has recently released a new affordable range of high quality false lashes, each offering a different look perfect for any and every occasion.

These are my favourite lashes from the new Superdrug collection and for each of the different lash types I have found a celebrity lash equivalent for inspiration.

If you love Ashley Olsen’s low key, au natural lash look then these Superdrug Lash Natural edition 12 lashes will be ideal for getting the same effortless makeup effect.

Or if you like to make more of a statement following Jessie J’s beautifully bold attitude then Superdrug Lash Volume Edition 21 will give you mega lash length and maximum impact.

Lash queen Adele always knows how to play on her eyes so the Superdrug Lash Double Volume edition 40 lashes that offers a double lash effect are the ideal ones to reach for.

It's A Skin Thing - New Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint Review

As a lover of all the products that I own from the Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare line (which is quite a few :) ) I was super excited to have been given the amazing opportunity to try out the new Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint before it hits the shops in September. Oh and you'll be pleased to know it doesn't disappoint!

The new Sheer Skin Tint is the result of the many countless customer requests for Liz Earle to expand her skincare line into makeup. The Skin Tint was created to work in harmony with the skin, to highlight and enhance a woman’s natural beauty, instead of masking it. Giving every women confidence with natural looking everyday skin.

(no makeup apart from Sheer Skin Tint)

I chose the lightest shade ‘Bare’ as even in the summer my skin is quite fair; the skin tint comes in three different shades, Bare being the lightest, then Beige and Beach for those with darker skin tones.

If you’re like me and tend to avoid ordering foundations online because of the difficultly in choosing a shade, then you’ll be pleased to know that Liz Earle will provide samples of all the three shades with every purchase. Helping you find the best shade to suit you, first time, and supporting the Liz Earle ‘ Reduce, Re-use, Recycle’ campaign; preventing unnecessary landfill of good unused products.

(no makeup apart from Sheer Skin Tint)

Following the instructions I applied a pea size amount of the product, dotting it evenly onto my forehead, nose, cheeks and chin, blending it in with my fingertips. The formula was thicker than I had expected from a ‘sheer’ product, but the rich creaminess helped the foundation to blend evenly into the skin. The lightweight formula and natural coverage gave my skin a lovely fresh, radiant and dewy appearance. It evened out my skin tone, providing a great natural looking base. As the name ‘Sheer Skin Tint’ suggests I would say that if you are after more than a just light coverage this might not be the product for you.

I was a little hesitant about the dewy appearance it gave my skin at first, as I do suffer from a little shininess, however to my surprise I found that it actually helped to keep my shininess at bay! And my makeup looked as fresh as when I first applied it :)

(Sheer Skin Tint, Blusher, and Mascara. Oh and sorry I had wet hair as I had just washed it :)

The Sheer Skin Tint contains a UV protection of SPF 15, which I think is fantastic, giving you the option to skip your moisturiser and just using it on its own if you wish.

The dark, shimmery blue and easily portable packaging contains 40ml of product for £21,which sounds a little on the expensive side. However, a little does go a long way :) and I’m sure it would be a great investment, lasting you a long time.

(Sheer Skin Tint, Blusher, and Mascara)

Overall I am really satisfied with Liz Earles' first step from skincare to makeup and I can’t wait to find out what’s next in the Liz Earle Colour collection!

Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint will be available here from the 15th of September
